Introducing Mosaic's new Partner, Chandar Lal

At Mosaic, we’ve always been clear about the values underpinning our partnership: integrity and respect, continuous learning and curiosity, authenticity, accountability, and teamwork. For Mosaic to serve the great entrepreneurs of the future, our partnership will naturally evolve to include partners who share these values – and bring their own unique perspectives and experience. Today, we’re excited to announce that we have promoted Chandar Lal to join the partnership.

Since joining Mosaic, Chandar has been a driving force across the firm. After his first taste of venture capital at Sequoia on Sand Hill Road, he joined Mosaic five years ago and has grown steeply in his time with us. He has led and co-led half a dozen plus new investments, including Forward Earth, Parloa, Keelvar, Zerion, and more. In the process, he has become a valuable thought partner to founders – while also guiding our investment theses on emerging spaces, especially in AI and enterprise software. He has a passion for analysing markets deeply, approaching them from first principles to anticipate how the future might look different from today.

Beyond his direct investing activities, Chandar has been instrumental in building out our firm. He has recruited top talent to Mosaic, fostered and nurtured team members, and established himself as a role model for our collaborative, collegial culture.

Chandar’s promotion is a reflection of his hard work, expertise, and the trust he has earned from entrepreneurs and colleagues alike. We’re thrilled about his promotion and are excited to continue working alongside him, as we grow the next generation of Mosaic’s leadership into the future.

In his own words:

Why did you become an early-stage investor?
Put simply, I want to commercialise tech that’s useful for the world. I can’t think of a more scalable way to do so than via early-stage venture.

What do you look for in an entrepreneur?
Beyond my sector focus – typically B2B AI applications – I'm excited by founders with obvious mastery of their domain, and the deep self-belief that comes with it. I love teams who can articulate their unorthodox insight in simple terms, and then lay out a clear route to market leadership.

What have you enjoyed most about working at Mosaic?
The abundance of people to learn from. It’s a privilege to spend time with such a wide range of ‘outlier’ founders – all remarkable in their grit, expertise, and relentless focus on building enduring companies. Likewise, it’s a pleasure to be surrounded by a small and fiercely intelligent team, with a wealth of experience and insight from which to learn.
